In 2022 I was selected as a DesignMatters Fellow to conduct research and design for a government playbook published by Housing for Health; a division of LA County Department of Health Services devoted to providing supportive housing to Health Services patients experiencing homelessness and complex medical and behavioral health issues.

These publication projects were made possible through the collective knowledge and collaboration of mental health and homeless service providers contracted by Housing for Health at the Los Angeles Department of Health Services.  They ran LA County’s Emergency Medical Shelters in response to COVID-19 from 2020-2022. This book has went on to guide the successful opening and closing of Pathway Home and Inside Safe programs, operated by LA City & County.

Quarantine and Isolation Medical Sites for People Without a Place to Shelter focuses on the setup, management, and closing of these sites.

The Disaster Response manual is for outreach. It concerns multidisciplinary mobile and street based teams serving people experiencing homelessness.

Above: Presenting the playbook creation process and first version of the publication mock-up/layout template to the team responsible for the research and development of this project at DHS, Housing for Health.
